Text

Pressure Equipment Directive 2014/68/EU called also PED replaced Directive 97/23/EC from 19 July 2016. The Commissions Working Group Pressure (WGP) has developed and agreed the Guidelines in order to ensure the coherent application of the PED.

This WGP is composed of representatives of Member States, European federations, Notified Bodies Forum and CEN and chaired by a representative of the Commission services.

Most of the PED Guidelines developed for Directive 97/23/EC are issued as PED Guidelines under new Directive 2014/68/EU. There are also new Guidelines issued to support the implementation of the PED.

The PED Guidelines are not a legally binding interpretation of the PED. The legally binding text remains that of the Directive. However, the PED Guidelines represent a reference for ensuring consistent application of the Directive. They represent, unless indicated differently in the guidelines, the unanimous opinion of the Member States.
